Editorial first double page spread

As part of my editorial designs I wanted to try and give the word 'fear' more meaning through the typeface used. Also i broke the word up to make the page more interesting. Leave a comment and let me know what you think.

My essay subject idea

As part of our contexual this year we are required to write an essay under one of the subjects that we will cover in our lectures. Ive decided to base my essay around issues of representation and I'll be focusing it around how the illustrators of book covers represent the story and whether the cover gives the potential reader an overview of the book, or simply a single element to get them interested. I can also look into whether the illustration was successful to my interpretation of the book once I've read it.

The image above is a book cover that I found related to the story really well and helped me to understand an aspect of the story but if you hadnt read the book you wouldnt understand how it relates.

 

For anyone that hasn't seen this advert its the newest of the twinnings commercials. I've decided to post it on my blog because i can't get over how amazing the illustrations and animation is. It is by far my favourite advert and the song is beautiful aswel! Hope you agree.

As part of my editorial brief I am required to produce imagery that relates to the problem within the City of Wolverhampton I have chosen to base 6 double page spread layouts on. The problem I have chosen is fear and intimidation in the streets so I thought that a simple drawn image of a sad girl would relate well to the emotions you feel when ur intimidated.
